Dental Implants

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are one of the solutions to replace missing teeth. A dental implant is essentially a treated titanium screw which is placed into the jaw, carefully drilled at the precise location of the intended tooth. The main aim during placement of any implant is to achieve immediate close contact with the surrounding bone. This creates an initial stability, which over time is steadily enhanced by further growth of bone into microscopic roughness on the implant surface.

How are crowns and bridges attached to the implant?

Inside the implant, there is an internal thread, into which a variety of components can be fitted. Once fitted, these components provide the foundation for long-term support of crowns, bridges, or dentures.
